I just sold most of the stuff back to the place I bought everything (just a bit north of Hyakumanben by Kyoto university) and had a bit of a surprise. I was happily thinking I could sell the stuff for about half the price I bought it for and make a bit of extra cash but I was wrong. I got nothing. I had a chest of drawers and a closet with some drawers, both bought for almost 10k, plus a desk, chair etc. He didn't event want to take the closet, for the other stuff he could give me 2000 yen. I wanted them to take the closet away too, he said the fee they'd have to pay for thrashing it would be 3000, so offered to take the lot for 0 yen. In any other country I would think I just got scammed. Maybe I was naive, perhaps this is the only way they can pay for rent and make a living, and it didn't look like the people were making personal fortunes. Not a huge setback, and I'm happy that I didn't have to throw it all away.

Re: Getting internet installed in Japan

So much did you have to pay for the house - excluding all restauration-related stuff?

Re: Featured on the Amateur Traveler

Hey there!
